SDG 16
All 17 Sustainable Development Goals are equally significant but the one I support the most is Goal 16 that promotes peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development. Peace and Justice consist the cornerstone of a sustainable society yet there are still many cases of discriminations, corruption, violence and violation of fundamental human rights. Since the establishment of SDGs back in 2015 progress has been noticed and bold efforts have been made in order to tackle the aforementioned problems but undoubtedly there are still several measures to be taken. I have chosen this Goal in hopes that through my law studies I will contribute towards this purpose, promoting the rule of law and even access to justice for everyone. I am confident that through hard work and cooperation we can all create a society incorporating the values of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Member of the Crisis Team
Hello everyone, my name is George Zervakis. I’d like to welcome each and every one of you to RhodesMRC 2019!
Diplomatic, committed, creative, passionate, pragmatic
George was born in 1999 in Athens and he is an undergraduate student in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Faculty of Law. He speaks English and French and he is academically interested in the fields of international law, international business and international relations. He became involved in MUNs for the first time as a high school student and as a University student he has participated in even more conferences. For George, conferences like RhodesMRC consist one of the greatest and most challenging academic experiences helping to build our character and develop unique and helpful skills such as public speaking and negotiating, getting simultaneously the chance to make strong friendships and meet people from all over the world. Apart from the above, his hobbies include among others reading books watching series and movies. RhodesMRC 2019 will be his second time participating in RhodesMRC and hopefully his best conference so far. He hopes that in this anniversary edition everyone will have an unforgettable experience, discussing interesting topics and dealing with fascinating crises, having in parallel a great time in the beautiful island of Rhodes.
RhodesMRC Memory
Participating in the 9th edition of RhodesMRC is undoubtedly an unforgettable experience that provided me with plenty pleasant memories but surely I will never forget the opening ceremony at the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, one of the most impressive and alluring opening ceremonies I have ever seen. This was only a sample of the days that would follow, including sessions full of heated debates and meeting exceptional new people!
