SDG 13

Personally I do support the Sustainable Development Goal Number 13 of the 2030 Agenda. The goal is about climate action and the provision of the essential education to young people so as for them to be ready to fight all the climate change issues. Climate change affects all people worldwide, especially the poor ones that cannot adjust to the changing weather patterns, the droughts and the augmentation of sea levels. Bearing such information in mind I have always tried to connect climate change issues with deeper – sometimes unseen- consequences. That is why I conducted a detailed study guide for Paris International Model United Nations with the main theme being “Food security and climate change”. Furthermore, while being a columnist at Power Politics I have written many articles about climate action as well as for the association of climate change with women and how it affects women, children and refugees.

OAS Chairperson

Hi my name is Alexia Salmon, I am 21 years old and this year I will serve as your Chair during RhodesMRC at the Organization of American States. Welcome!

Decided, devoted, responsible, impassioned, earnest

Alexia Salmon is a an undergraduate student in the department of International Relations and Diplomacy at the University of Piraeus in Athens. She is both French and Greek. She began her simulation journey back in 2016 as a delegate. Within three years, she has managed to received 3 awards and has served as a Board Member both in Greek and international conferences. She loves swimming, playing the piano and dancing. She is passionate about diplomatic conferences & public speaking and that is the main reason she started joining models of the UN, of Regional and European Institutions. Due to her love for travel and her international motivation she moved to France in 2018 to spend a semester at Sciences Po University as an Erasmus Student from which she graduated with honours. She hopes to impart the love she has for simulations to all her delegates because she believes that there are not such unique stories as the ones anyone can create via their participation in such intense but worthwhile experiences.

RhodesMRC Memory

I remember last year when I had to read out loud all the funny notes we were exchanging with our delegates or co-chairs during the traditional game of donuts. Some of them were funny, embarrassing in a good way and other were really moving. It was one of the best moments of the conference as we were having fun and we were eating delicious donuts. I remember taking -the ones that were sent to me in Athens – at home so as to read them again in the future and go back to the memories of Rhodes
