SDG 17

Although all of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals are considered necessary for building a peaceful and prosperous world, the “Goal 17- Partnerships for the Goals” should be highlighted. Enhancing the partnerships amongst the developed, the developing and the least-developed states is crucial towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. Cooperation in the fields of, inter alia, finance, trade, technology and capacity building is the key for an inclusive and equal economic, social and environmental development. Any kind of development requires the political will of the sovereign states, international organizations and other international actors, so as to leave no one behind.

Deputy Secretary General

I am Ioannis Maniatakos, a Deputy Secretary General of RhodesMRC 2019, and more than delighted to welcome you to the anniversary edition of RhodesMRC!

Hard-working, Patient, Righteous, Consistent and Trustworthy

Ioannis Maniatakos was born in Mytilene, Lesvos and raised mainly in Naoussa, Imathia. Afterwards, he studied the Law in the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and obtained his degree in 2019. His interests include sports, economics, diplomacy, politics and international law and he speaks fluently English, German and French.

From the beginning of his studies, he took an interest in organizing and participating in academic activities. Concerning the organizing part, he served as the Director of Financial Management of ELSA Thessaloniki for 2016-2017, as well as member and coordinator of the Organizing Committee of the ELSA Thessaloniki Summer Law School 2016 and 2017. As a participant, he has successfully participated in more than 10 simulations of national, regional and international organizations, both as a delegate and a chairperson. Thanks to MUNs, he broadened his academic horizons in various fields and managed to develop his skills in public speaking, negotiating and, after all, winning.

In his fourth consecutive attendance to RhodesMRC, he intends to stay in touch with young, passionate people, interested in international organizations and, primarily, to inspire them to further engage with MUNs and, especially, RhodesMRC.
