SDG 2
I believe personally that the second Sustainable Development Goal – Zero Hunger – is one of the most important, if not the most important. Hunger and nutrition issues are connected to the other goals, such as health, economy, education etc. Currently 815 million people live in hunger and a great reform in the agriculture sector, the largest employer in the world, is needed. Women and men can no longer make ends meet on their land, migrate to cities, and poor food security leaves children malnourished and exposed to diseases.. Safe and sufficient nutrition will keep people healthy and organized, children safe from diseases and focused on education. Zero Hunger is intra-connected with all of the other 16 goals, and will be a stepping stone to achieve at last sustainable development.

Anastasios Koumpogiannis is 22 years old and will serve as the Secretary General of the League of Arab States. Born in Rhodes and currently residing in the island of Kos, he is an undergraduate student at the Department of Mediterranean Studies of the University of the Aegean, studying International Relations and Organizations. He is motivated and willing to participate in and facilitate in this year’s RhodesMRC. His interests, span from sports – football to be exact – book reading, movie watching and of course eating food.

Personally, last year’s conference was, in whole, a great one. First and foremost meeting new people, who I stayed in touch throughout the year and built up great friendships. Also working hard to complete my goals and been rewarded in the end was a nice feeling and it motivates me to work even harder in my next projects
