Michael G. Kavuklis is a political scientist, business owner and active citizen from Rhodes, Greece.
He holds a bachelor’s degree on International and European Relations / Political Science and Diplomacy from the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece, and a Master’s Degree in “International, Political and Economic Relations in the Mediterranean” from the University of the Aegean, Rhodes, Greece. He has a failed PhD candidacy on International Law and Disarmament, also at the University of the Aegean in Rhodes.
He is the owner of the marketing agency mgk.advertising, from Rhodes, Greece, which is specialized in branding, web development, content development, local marketing, digital marketing and marketing in the sectors of tourism, SMEs, academia, culture and civil society. mgk.advertising owns the Rhodes.com.gr media group, which has received various awards for its innovation, and includes a website, various social media channels and two printed editions, all under the leadership of Michael G. Kavuklis. The company also runs a publishing brand, that has published already various books. He is a certified alternative tourism consultant.
He has a long experience and involvement in projects on youth development, intercultural dialogue, active citizenship, European integration, sustainable development and entrepreneurship and the challenges of the digital era. Through his involvement with the House of Europe in Rhodes, he has gained a long experience in project management, having participated as a coordinator to more than a dozen international projects, while he founded the Rhodes Model Regional Co-operation youth leadership conference and the Europe, Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Development Forum – EESD Forum Rhodes, the only annual event in Rhodes and the Aegean islands on innovation and sustainability.
He is frequently invited as a speaker/expert or coordinator of panels, in conferences and events in Greece and abroad, on topics like: civil society, intercultural dialogue, youth development, sustainable development, media and information literacy and digital human rights and digital etiquette, which are also his main research areas.
He occasionally writes for magazines and digital media and has published a paper on Youth in the Euro-mediterranean area. He has studies in Music (Piano and Higher Music Theory) and participates to the Choir of the Municipal Conservatory of Rhodes. He is active in his local parish church.
He currently serves, among others, as:
- President of the House of Europe in Rhodes,
- Head of the Organizing Committee of the “Rhodes Model Regional Co-operation” youth leadership conference,
- Coordinator in Chief of the Europe, Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Development Forum – EESD Forum Rhodes,
- Vice President of the European Network for Education and Training e.V. – EUNET, and
- Focal Point of the Greek Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation for Aegean and Crete.
