Who are you?

My name is Emmanouela Diakaki, a 22 year old girl from Athens, Greece, whose dream is to see all worlds’ corners. I am an undergraduate at the department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Athens and, since the beginning of my studies, I have pursued to preoccupy myself with all manner of affairs. I attend and have contributed to conferences, seminars, workshops and MOOCs of international renown. I speak five languages so far, including Chinese, all while holding down multiple part- time jobs. In addition, I am incredibly keen on and have devoted many an hour volunteering at a local but also at a global level. As a young, independent woman I am proud to call myself a passionate advocate for human rights, and women’s and children’s rights in particular. My fondness of simulations started two years ago and, since, has only grown which makes me excited about my first chairing experience this fall.

Even though Rhodes MRC was my second simulation, it was the first where I was adequately prepared to participate in a way that not only made me stand out but also taught myself a lot about my capabilities. Therefore, my first experience at Rhodes MRC 2016 was actually what drove me to forcefully become engaged to the purpose of said simulations.

What do you expect to gain as a member of the Board of RhodesMRC 2018?

As a head delegate for the second consecutive time, I have realized that, during the mock sessions, I have found interest in not only creating an agenda and a plan, but also steering the discussions and helping other delegates. Thus, what I am highly looking forward to as far as the chairing experience is concerned, is the constructing afresh of a new agenda of urgent matters to be resolved, as well as the research and analysis that shall be conducted for the development of a new and exciting committee simulation, and also, the sight of the simulation from another angle, for a change.
